Raadi manor and the Liphart art collection 2008-2011
The University of Tartu Art Museum was part of the project “Raadi manor and the Liphart art collection”, which examined Raadi manor as a cultural centre and studied the Liphart art collection and its meaning in both local and international context.
A large part of the the University of Tartu Art Museum’s graphics collection originates from Raadi manor and the Liphart art collection, which reached the University in the 1920s. The Art Museum was given the collection in 1962. The Liphart collection demonstrates the 19th century principles of art collecting: it includes both old graphics and 19th century reproductions.
Participating in the project were parties closely linked to the Liphart collection and Raadi manor: University of Tartu, the University of Tartu Art Museum and Estonian National Museum. The results of the study are published in articles and a catalogue of the art collection. An international research conference will be held to discuss the project.
